ok, so I'm starting to blog today. I've been wanting to try this for awhile but something seems to delay me. Maybe I wonder if I'll have any "followers" or maybe it has been the tyranny of the urgent that has prevented me. Regardless ... here goes! I'm a husband and father who is devoted to my family and I've been a follower of Jesus now for years. I've learned by degrees, not just the formal testing to receive a piece of paper, but life has been a journey with many "aha" moments. Some of those have been daily reflections, others life altering events. Recently I had the opportunity to go to Kenya and Rwanda with Canadian Baptist Ministries. Talk about life altering! I'm not even sure where to start - emotions are very close to the surface right now with powerful images of wealth and poverty running through my head. Emotions such as profound sadness and anger provide opportunity to reflect on who I am and how I can best live my life to the full in serving God and the world around me. Speaking about degrees - I am now back in cold Canada. Today it is about 60+ degrees colder than I experienced two weeks ago in the desert region of Kenya. Wow - I am chilled to the bone. As I get settled into this routine, I hope that for anyone interested, I can share items that may lead to "aha" moments for you. Right now, I'm learning about myself and God's great plan for me in His world - I'm learning it today in sub zero degrees!
Great first post!! Looking forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteYay, you're blogging! I'm excited. You should definitely blog more about Africa after you have more time to digest and reflect. I really appreciated the message in church yesterday; it's obvious the profound effect this trip has had on you. See you at staff meeting tomorrow!
